If we are going to talk about Pimsleur and Duolingo, two different method in learning foreign languages from all around the world, Pimsleur and Duolingo are two language programs that could hardly be more different. There are questions along our mind to ask about What do they really teach? How many words, and how quickly? Which one is the best? In this article, We are going to provide a quantitative analysis of what Pimsleur teaches and evaluate how efficient the Pimsleur method is, in terms of time spent and content learned. We are then going to do something similar for Duolingo and share some thoughts on the pros and cons of each method.

When we are already quite adept at speaking in United Kingdom, then we can learn all languages provided Duolingo at the beginning of the use of the application. Whereas when we are only adept at speaking in Indonesia or Viet Nam, then we can only learn the language of the United Kingdom. Duolingo provides written or learning with sound, there is also a practice talk to more experienced users.

In the early stages when you first open the Duolingo, we will be given two options i.e. “new user” and “existing user”. When you are a new user, then start registering a new account using email, Facebook or Twitter account. Duolingo have the ability where users can complete a chapter then to a tree branch to another. We will also be invited to improve language skills through a variety of tests such as the basic test level 2, phrases, names of food, animals, phrases in a foreign language, the names of colors, the word hyphen and various other basic tests. Actually, if you are serious about learning a language, we think you should use a variety of different materials. But, in this conclusion, if you are supposed to choose one of between Pimsleur and Duolingo, we recommend you Pimsluer better than Duolingo. In certain case if you are interested in learning a bit about a language so you can get along reasonably well during a trip, either of these will probably work decently for you, with Pimsleur being a better option because of the emphasis on spoken language. Still, put together, you can get to a walking-around level (if not a conversational level), which is a pretty impressive achievement.
